American Councils Belgrade opens competition for the future American Resource Center logo design (deadline: April 29, 2024)
American Councils for International Education, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, announces a competition for logo design for the future American Resource Center (ARC) in the Republic of Serbia, which will be opened in Belgrade in the spring of 2025.
The ARC is envisioned as a dynamic, technologically advanced, and conceptually progressive space for meetings and exchange of ideas, knowledge, and cultures between the United States of America and the Republic of Serbia. As the name suggests, the ARC will simultaneously be a place for accessing resources aimed at advancing collaboration between Serbian and American societies, as well as a place for creating resources to enhance the global environment in which this collaboration takes place.
Transgenerationally oriented, with a focus on youth, the ARC will develop and carry out cultural events, and provide a platform for lectures on American culture and Serbian-American historical and current connections, as well as for concerts, exhibitions, gaming events, hackathons, virtual and multimedia performances. Additionally, the ARC will organize scientific-popular forums about the rapidly changing world we live in (artificial intelligence, futurecasting, etc.). Furthermore, ARC will have its own audio-visual podcast production.
The future logo should be a unique, noticeable, and easily memorable symbol, designed in line with the purpose of the ARC. Since the ARC is part of the American Spaces global program (American Corners in Serbia), there are guidelines regarding global graphic branding solutions. However, considering the unique character of the future ARC, American Councils and the U.S. Embassy are open to proposals with design solutions that may not be in line with the given branding options.
Completed logo proposals for the ARC should be sent to: arcbelgrade@americancouncils.org by April 29, 2024, at 9 am along with the contact information (name, email, and phone number) of the person responsible for communication with American Councils. Email subject: "ARC logo - for the competition".
Initial logo proposals should be sent in JPEG format, with a resolution of 1080x1080. Along with the logo proposal, the author(s) should provide a statement in the email:
that the proposed logo is original and unique.
that the proposed logo can be made public for "voting" through American Councils’ social media without disclosing the author(s)' information.
that, in case the proposed logo is adopted, i.e., the prize is won, the author(s) commit to delivering to the American Councils and the U.S. Embassy, with possible previously agreed modifications, the final version of the logo in formats suitable for high-quality electronic display and printing by the agreed deadline.
that, in case the proposed logo is adopted, i.e., the prize is won, the author(s) fully transfer rights to American Councils and the U.S. Embassy for displaying, reproducing, distributing, and adapting the logo (creating new content based on the logo content).
The prize for the winning logo is $5000 USD. The prize is to be transferred to the bank account of the author(s) after here specified conditions of the competition are fulfilled.
